Hi everyone,

gp32x.com is down and I figured I'd start some chatter on psx4gp2x here.
I recently begun working on the dynarec for psx4gp2x again, giving it a second try. With Unai's new psx4all codebase, and my vastly improved dynarec, I am now playing Wipeout XL fairly smooth and steady at a not so shabby 10.7 FPS!
Remember that Wipeout XL is an intensely 3D game and due to the current way things are setup, 3D Games dont get as much improvement as 2D games from the dynarec. Wipeout XL also runs at about 30 FPS normally. So it's 1/3rd there! At least with a 266MHz OC. ;P

I'm about to test FF7, but I can imagine from the results of the test I just did with Wipeout XL, it will be about 10 or 11 FPS in battle and a steady fullspeed in many places of the initial powerplant level. This comes with a 266MHz OC. So things are improving and many games should be more than twice as fast as the interpreter releases of psx4gp2x. Smiley

I'm going to try to get a quick build out to show some progress, it will be very w.i.p. though. Smiley

If I don't respond to this thread please PM me as I get very busy and I forget to check up on threads. Thanks!

Great job Zodttd. Good to see you're still working on psx4gp2x, would be nice if you are able to increase the speed so we will have some playable psx games on the gp2x. Can't wait to try the new improved version.

Too bad to see gp32x.com having problems, there are not that many users on this board.
Of course that will change soon when they know Zodttd is posting here Wink
Please keep us informed about your progress, always very tasty stuff!

I followed your thread on gp32x.com and I must say I'm very impressed with your work! First the GBA dynarec and now the PSX... you're a real coding talent!

Heh, I'd really like to see at least one more forum where gp2x and possibly other handheld users and developers can talk. It'd be great if it will be this one. I wonder whats needed to get more people here.

Yep, I agree. Right now the main reason for people to go here could be the league or the dutch forum (seeing the amount of views). The dutch userbase unfortunately is rather small. The best way to get people here I guess is be different than gp32x.com or when gp32x.com will have problems for a long time (let's hope that doesn't happen .. ).

BTW. don' t you feel guilty for creating the bandwith problems of gp32.com ?

Thanks zodttd for your great work! Like all others very curious about the improved psx4gp2x.

About gp32x. Well, it's no use competing in any way with gp32x. It's the biggest with the most active users and most threads. A great source.

We are trying to be a bit different with this forum with e.g. the gp2x gaming league, the gp2x rss feeds.  And the topics and replies here are a bit more serious.

I am thinking about a new compo. That might attract more international guests.  It will be something quite different, exciting and new (sorry, sudden burst of loveboat tune).

Some first users got in here trough the newsletter we made. It was the point I joined to make a german translation of it and I just got to love this nice little place here. Smiley It somehow remindes me of gp32x.com in the time of the gp32 sometimes.

Back to the topic: Although I don't have the slightest hope that psx4gp2x will ever be fullspeed it's very interesting to look at the developement of it. Resume your good work and enjoy it, zodtdd. Smiley

It sure is a little nice place. And if you compare the amount of users with the amount of postings, you can say this is a very active board.

You don't have to wait until gp32.com is up again. You could announce it here for the happy few Smiley

gp32x.com is back up, read the story here!

Zodttd was also kind enough to post a WIP build of psx4gp2x!! It can be found here.

Some videos showing psx4gp2x in action: Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 7 and Medal of Honor 2.

Great work zodttd!
