There's a new XGP, the XGP kids.
It looks like this:

There's no reliable info about it at the moment.
We just have to wait and see.

yeah, but it's really strange: they call this the gp32 successor.
But you can hardly call the gp32 kiddy stuff.

they just call it like this because they just want to port all the commercial gp32 software to it

btw it won't allow homebrew according to gp

Ben, what do you think about the xgp-range.
Do you think it'll be a succes? Why 3 products instead of just one good one?

They have to have a truckload of money to promote all three...
And competing with Nintendo or Sony is almost impossible, due to
financial reasons. I am a bit puzzled because these product aren't really
niche products, like the gp2x.

In fact I don't think that they really plan to produce 3 models. They went to E3 to get investors. Without them they can't even produce a single one, but 3 different models may get the interest from some investors. I suppose that if they'll get a investor they'll produce the model the investor is most interested in. As a investor I would choose the XGP kids, just because the concept of it is to squeeze money out of things that already exist. (old gp32 games) It's the cheapest concept and it's not that unrealistic that some parents will buy them for their kids for a low price. As a GP32-owner I would choose the XGP mini because it is interesting for 2D games and could have a good chance in a niche market beside the GP2X and in the mp3 player market.
I doubt that any serious investor is interested in the big XGP. Well, there's one. I heard that MS showed some interest in the XGP to stand up against Sony and their PSP. - no joke - Knowing GP I doubt that anything will ever get out of this, though, as they aren't able to really organise anything.

Thanks Ben for your insight. Your story does make a lot of sense,
it fits nicely into my suspections.

GP claims that the XGP will be on the US and Asian market this November.
I contacted them a few times for more info about  selling the XGP in Europe,
but with no result at all. This also fed my suspicion on these products.

Microsoft into handhelds, my god. Although i really dislike MS, the xbox
isn't too bad.

About GP and GPH. It's sad that companies who can make good and unique
products like the gp32 and the gp2x suck so much at communication- and bussinesskills.

"We Strive to be a Leader in the Portable Game Device Market" isn't much of an attractive slogan.

GP also was at the Games Convention and ED talked to them because he thought about selling the XGP, too. They said to him that they think about only releasing the XGP kids. It also won't be compatible to the GP32 and the headphone port doesn't work yet.

Didn't I wrote that I thought that something like this will happen some while ago?  Shocked

You must be some kind of magician! Tongue

Well, I think they'll get more profit when they only release the Mini, as not many people on GP32X.com are interested in the Kids, because of the small LCD etc., and I don't think GamePark would make it to the US (that it will be sold in shops like Wallmart etc.).

According to gp32spain, the KiDS model will be released on the 16th of October (first it was the 16th of September, but they corrected it) with the same specs. So no higher resolution or d-pad. But I'll happily buy it Tongue
